Our 2010 Renewable Energy Tour will be kicked off on October 2nd and provide the following projects for on site viewing (unless otherwise listed) each Saturday during the month of October. The projects listed for on site viewing may have representatives from the renewable energy firms present to answer any questions on the systems and to provide the tour.

The tour this year will consist of all renewable energy, green building, and energy efficiency projects that were either implemented, built, or installed in 2010. It is our goal to provide the residents and State of Idaho with an accurate look at how renewable energy, green building, and energy efficiency is being used in Idaho, and its growth from year to year. We hope that residents and State Officials alike will find this information valuable and educational.

The Heglar Holsteins Calf Ranch/Webb Dairy has a 28 evacuated tube collector solar thermal system used to supply 1,600 gallons of 160 degree water a day.

This 3500 sqft residence is all electric. The home is at net zero with a 10.8 kW photovoltaic system. The system consists of 48 - 225 watt polycrystalline modules.

3.8kW grid-tie system using twelve (12) SunPower 315 watt modules. SunPower 315s are pushing 20% efficiency under Standard Testing Conditions. This is the crème de la crème of grid tie systems. It will produce more electricity than 99% of other slightly larger (5kW-6kW) roof mounted systems that use twice the panels and roof space.

The Weigel residence has a 5.4 kW grid-tie SunPower photovoltaic system with a 6000 watt SMA inverter, web base live system monitoring with a wireless in home display. Elegant all black module design. The system produces at an efficiency of 18.2%, the highest conversion module commercially available. This project will be available for viewing from 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday, October 2nd.

St. Jude Dream home photovoltaic system is a pro-bono project designed and installed by Idaho Solar Design & Consulting, Inc. All materials are 100% donated for the benefit of St. Jude Childrens Hospital. The residence utilizes an 8.2kW system, enabling the home to be recognized as the first officially certified Net-Zero home in Idaho. This project will be available for viewing each Saturday during the month of October.

This residence boasts a 3.45kW photovoltaic system utilizing two Outback GTFX 3045 Grid-Tie inverters. The system is expected to produce enough energy to offset nearly 100% of the Torline conservative lifestyle. The sealed battery bank is sized to support all of the home energy needs in the event of a grid power outage. The project is open for viewing on the 9th of October. Please contact to view. This new construction 3,000 square foot home has low-e and low-u windows, upgraded insulation, smart wiring, and is Energy Star rated. It comes with a 6.4kW photovoltaic system that enables the home to generate more energy than it consumes. This home will be open from noon to 4:00pm October 2nd, 9th, 23rd & 30th. This 1,700 sqare foot home has low-e and low-u windows, upgraded insulation, smart wiring and is Energy Star rated. It has a 1.84kW photovoltaic system with micro-inverters. This home will be available for viewing from noon to 4:00pm the 2nd, 9th, 23rd & 30th of October. The home will be available for viewing from 10:00am to 1:00pm on the 16th.
